Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry

The Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry

Scientists of the institute investigate metabolic responses of algae to biotic and abiotic stresses. Especially chemical communication and community-based chemical defense reactions of planktonic unicellular algae represent the focus of research. Biochemical and synthetic methods are used to investigate metabolic processes at the regulatory level with custom made stable isotope or fluorescently labeled metabolic probes. The tools are also used to search for new hormones and elicitor active signals that mediate metabolic or behavioral responses of marine algae.
