MPI-SHH course: Computational Population Genetics

Lecturer: Stephan Schiffels, Choongwon Jeong (MPI-SHH) and Benjamin Peter (MPI-EVA)

We are announcing a workshop on Computational Population Genetics, which is open to students from a variety of disciplines who are new to this field and want to learn about population genetics and bioinformatic data analysis of human genomic data. There are no major prerequisites, except for a laptop with a Webbrowser. Some basic familiarity with the Unix command line environment will help.

The topics will include

  • Basic introductions to programming in bash and python
  • Working with Jupyter Notebooks
  • Data visualisation
  • How to work with BAM files
  • Authenticating ancient DNA
  • Contamination tests
  • Principal Components Analyses
  • F statistics
