The Institute of General Botany and Plant Physiology focuses on interactions of plant model organisms. The growth promotion of Arabidopsis thaliana by the fungus Piriformospora indica is investigated with emphasis on early signaling events leading to the mutual recognition of the two symbiotic partners. The interactions of the unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii with the environment are studied with respect to signaling pathways that are induced by the daily light-dark cycle or by nutrition.
