Jena Center for Microbial Communication (JCMC)

The Jena Center for Microbial Communication (JCMC) has been launched to achieve both focusing and perpetuating the established research structures in Microbial Communication in Jena. It is meant to create a multidisciplinary network promoting transfer between basic research and applied sciences stretching far beyond the borders of Thuringia.

The scientific aim of the center is a better understanding of chemical signals, their spatial expansion, perception and the decoding of all subordinated development processes. This is only possible through the integration of Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Geology, Optics/Physics and Systems Biology. In the long-term the modelling of homo- and heterogenous consortia will result from this integration.

The JCMC is a structure-providing center within the profile line LIFE of the university. More information about the profile line LIFE can be found here: life.uni-jena.de
